Workshop with Curriculum Reviewers
On December 2, 2009 a meeting with Curriculum Reviewers took place at the ‶CMB” Training Center, in Chisinau.
The five experts/curriculum reviewers identified in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, with the assistance of Maria Golban, Vice-Chief of the VET Department are:
Mr. Stefan Gheorghita, Director AIDS Center, Chisinau
Mr. Calmic Varfolomei, Vice-Director, National Center for Preventive Medicine
Mrs. Bragarenco Efrosinia, Chief of the Methodological Republican Cathedra/Department of the Ministry of Health of Moldova
Mrs. Cobileanschi Svetlana, Vice-Director of the National Medical and Pharmaceutical College from Moldova
Mrs. Ludmila Chitic – Chief of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of the National Medical and Pharmaceutical College from Moldova
The meeting with the curriculum reviewers started at 15:00 and lasted up until 18:30. The discussions were very productive, and much feedback was provided by the experts on the proposed content for the curriculum on ‶Decisions for Healthy Life Style” to be implemented in the vocational schools in Moldova.
The meeting was facilitated by Nicu Cretzu. The main objective of the meeting was to get the first feedback/reactions from the curriculum reviewers on the proposed topics of the course. The project team decided to formulate some specific questions based on the main 5 blocks of the course/curriculum and to see the degree to which some of the issues can or can not be addressed by the course.
Here are the main results of the meeting:
General observations and recommendations
1. There is a shared vision amongst the curriculum reviewers that the course on ‶Decisions for a Healthy Life Style” should be mandatory.
2. Curriculum reviewers believe that it is not possible to cover all the proposed content within the 35 hours of the course.
3. Mr. Gheorghita shared that it is very important for representatives of the Ministry of Education to participate in these kind of meetings where both MoE and Ministry of Health sit together and clarify issues/aspects which are mutually important.
4. It is important to consult all teaching staff at each pilot school before the course is implemented. This is important in order to have support from the colleagues and understanding on some sensitive issues, as well as in order to provide full support to the teacher/s who will conduct the course.
